Information & Policies
All students should have a Trinity library card. You must present your library card when checking out materials. Your library card allows you to request items from other libraries in the Prairie Area Library System. Items may be sent to Trinity for you to pick up. You can do this by placing a hold in the card catalog or by calling the library. Items available for hold are circulating items at our system libraries.
Reserve & Reference Materials
The library has a small reserve and reference section for brief consultations by students. Any item on reserve or reference does not circulate. Users may come to the library to review these materials.
Students may borrow materials by presenting their library card at the circulation desk. Books circulate for three (3) weeks and may be renewed one (1) time for a total of six weeks, unless someone else has placed a hold on the book. Books may be renewed in person, by phone, or by e-mail. Please leave all available information for the librarian, including the title and author of the book and your name.
Fines are $0.10 per day. Overdue notices are generated by the system and will be mailed to the individual's home address. If a third notice is necessary, it will be a bill for replacement of the material.
Interlibrary Loan Policy for Trinity Health Sciences Library
Request an item - My Pulse Portal
Trinity Health Sciences Library does its best to own or maintain access to materials which would commonly be needed by the faculty and staff of Trinity College of Nursing and Health Sciences. However, no library has access to every book or article. Any item not owned by the library may be requested via interlibrary loan. Any member of the Trinity community may request items by using the online form on this web page, by submitting the paper form, or by calling, faxing, or emailing the library. Items are subject to the availability and lending policies of the lending library.
Items most likely to be loaned:
Journal articles (no more than 1 article per issue of a journal)
Items not likely to be loaned:
Reference or reserve materials
Rare or oversized materials
Entire issues of journals
Please check PrairieCat our online catalog found in the My Pulse Portal
, before requesting books. Your Trinity library card is accepted at all PrairieCat libraries, and items may be routed to Trinity's library for pickup at this location.
Every effort will be made to obtain items for free; however, it is our policy to pass on any charges to the user for interlibrary loan. Please indicate on the request form if and how much you would be willing to pay to obtain this material. If the item is not available for less than the cost you are willing to pay, your request will be retired unfilled.
Please allow yourself plenty of time when requesting materials. Items may take up to two weeks to arrive. Articles will, when possible, be emailed to the student's email account. Other materials must be picked up at the library. A $5 fee will be assessed to the student's college bill if ILL items are not picked up within two weeks of notification.
Making Copies in the Library
Copies should be made for your own private use and research, and are subject to the Fair Use clause. Printed copies may be made of any material licensed in library databases, copies of a journal article or book chapter owned by the library, or request a journal article or book chapter not owned by the library through interlibrary loan. If you are copying journal articles or books to avoid purchasing the material, it may still be copyright infringement, even in an educational setting.
How Do I Determine Fair Use?
Section 107 of the Copyright Law is known as the "Fair Use" statute. Users will examine four factors and determine whether or not the intended use of an item constitutes fair use. Please contact the Librarian for assistance.
